Hello everyone welcome to my first blog post. I am a FRESHMAN at UVA. I am studying Japanese because in my opinion Japan has one of the most interesting cultures. The Japanese culture's emphasis on mutual respect and filial piety is awesome. I visited Japan in the summer of 2007 and everyone there was so polite. I hope to one day live/study/work in Japan, especially Tokyo (although seeing the prices for housing in Tokyo it seems like it will be a long time before that happens).
Anyways here's a picture of the fortune I got from a temple in the Kantou region of Japan...somewhere around Tokyo I guess.
I'm still waiting for my "best fortune" to come....

How does spacing in Japanese work? When do you put spaces?
Is Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka in romaji Tookyo/Kyooto/Oosaka?

Tokyo is quite expensive to live in. Actually, it is THE most expensive place in the world to live. But still, it is a nice place.
As for spacing, you don't really need to add spaces between characters or words. You can just keep it as one big block. As for Tokyo's romanization, it should be Tookyoo (とうきょう). Hope that helps.
The fortune is the one at Sensoo-ji in あさくさ, Tokyo. I also went there over the summer(07) and I got one as well! What a coincidence! I think I went there in July.
ほんにちは!I noticed that on Enciso-san's comments page, you said "Utada Hikaru" and "nice choice" in the same sentence, AWESOME!!!! Utada Hikaru is my favorite Japanese artist! But, I'm wondering, how did you find her/come to like her?
Just curious...
